RANGEMASTER: including the businesses of Rangemaster (UK), La Cornue (France), Divertimenti (UK), Heartland (Canada) and Marvel (US) with a joint turnover of over £125 million and 1,100 employees. Together they have a history spanning over 300 years, being innovators in range cooking. Rangemaster’s original ‘Kitchener’ design was awarded a gold medal at the 1851 Great Exhibition. La Cornue’s vaulted oven, invented in 1908 in which food cooks in its own steam, created at that time a revolutionary method of cooking.
Today, Rangemaster is the UK’s leading range cooker manufacturer and the acquisition of La Cornue in France has given Rangemaster a strong foothold into the French range cooker market into which it sells its Rangemaster and Falcon branded cookers. In 2006 Rangemaster sold 18% of its cookers outside the UK. La Cornue benefits from Rangemaster’s excellent R&D skills at its multi million pound R&D centre at Leamington Spa, which is also Rangemaster’s appliance manufacturing base. Rangemaster’s other site at Long Eaton in Nottingham produces a range of sinks which account for c25% of Rangemaster’s turnover. Cookware, a new addition, to the Rangemaster product range.
Divertimenti, the high-end kitchenware retailer, has stores in Marylebone High Street and Brompton Road, London and has just opened a new store in Cambridge - it's first outside London. Its online business with wedding registry is growing.
Heartland is Rangemaster's leading distributor in North America and provides a great opportunity for US growth.
Marvel's expertise in the manufacture of premium undercounter refrigeration is being successfully employed as it provides Aga, Rangemaster, Falcon and Divertimenti with refrigeration appliances.
