AGA sees significant rise in sales of wood-burning stoves

AGA Stoves, part of the AGA Rangemaster Group, has seen a huge increase in sales of its wood-burning stoves over the last two years as a result of the exceptionally cold winters. And as the UK shivers under the latest blanket of snow, William McGrath, Chief Executive of AGA Rangemaster, sees little signs of the trend slowing.   Commenting on the latest bout of cold weather, William says: “When the temperature drops and snow and ice cause transport mayhem and we read about gas shortages, people are choosing to install a wood-burning stove to gain some independence from the fuel network and guarantee warmth in their homes.  Wood-burning stoves are a perfect and cost effective way to have energy efficient and carbon neutral heating – without the worry of what’s happening to the utility suppliers. And we all know that nothing beats the cozy feeling and warmth generated by a wood-burner.

“AGA has been creating home heating products for many years, and people choose an AGA Stove because they know us and trust us to deliver a reliable, effective and beautifully crafted stove. If we have more of these winters, more and more people are going to be looking at wood-burning as a simple and reliable way to heat their homes.”

From its ever popular Little Wenlock Classic which is perfect for the smaller home to its Minsterley model – which has a boiler for hot water and powering radiators, there is an AGA wood-burning stove to suit every home and budget. And for urban and city centre dwellers there is also a smoke-exempt version of the Little Wenlock Classic to comply with the stringent clean air regulations.

The UK has undergone something of a renaissance in wood-burning over recent years, and the trend for installing a wood-burner, as opposed to just an open fire, is testament to the fact that people are looking for an efficient and green addition to their regular heating.   AGA Stoves have efficiencies of over 80%, which means that nearly all the heat generated stays in the room, and only a fraction goes up the chimney. With an open fire, quite the reverse is true, with up to 75% of the heat generated wasted.   AGA Stoves are designed and engineered at the AGA foundry and factory in Coalbrookdale, Shropshire – the home of cast-iron and a centre of excellence for over 300 years.
